I wasn’t able to go to GenCon this year but someone I know did and got me the Fez as done by Amanda Cumberland Fazzini. It’s not like in Doctor Who but it’s super fun with the cutouts! In the class at GenCon, they used hot glue to make the felt stick to the fez. I tried to use Fabric Mod Podge but the thick fabric absorbed the Mod Podge and I had to switch back to hot glue.
I placed the felt cut outs in the order I wanted them. I put the Weeping Angel in the back! It’s a super fun project that took me about 30 minutes to do from start to finish.
Step 1: Lay out all the shapes and put in the order. As you can see I was going to use the Fabric Mod Podge. Trying to put on the TARDIS was an issue. It didn’t stay stuck to the side of the Fez. After A few tries I gave up and used the hot glue gun.
You can see the outline of the Tardis on the fez. The glue worked a lot better on the felt fabric. If you got it to work let me know, but I think the glue is the best.
Below are the pictures of the finished fez and how I arranged all the different shapes. The two creepy ones are the Weeping Angel and The Silence. But this is a good thing! My favorites are the Tardis, Cyberman and Dalek. What can I say I like classic WHO.
This craft was geeky and fun. It’s a simple one that people with no crafting skills can do. Everything is cut out and you arrange how you like it. Plus it’s super fun. I love this Fez and glad I got a chance to do it!
